Hi I completed my nvq levels 1 and 2 in electrical installation way back in 1999. I worked as an electrical installer for a bedroom company. I passed my 17th edition two years ago. now everything has changed and I'm not sure what Eca card to apply for? Any ideas or help appreciated. Would I need to do another course to become fully qualified as I work full time at minute but would.like to return to my electrical work next year.

Many thanks

Hi mate.

You are no where near fully qualified with only an NVQ 1 & 2. TBH I never knew there was a NVQ 1.

Also you do not apply for a card. You send them your qualifications and they tell you what you are graded as. With those qualifications only I would not expect anything more than an adult trainee.

I still think you need the theory side to gain an electrician status. Still adult trainee I fear.

It is not often I endorse a short course but you may well benefit here. You have both NVQs as domI so clearly can do the work. Just need to demonstrate the theory side of things.

Maybe EODNeil can advise better.

That's a good idea and again thanks for taking time to answer.
