was or am an ex sparks wishing to renew my papers so need as much advice as possible, I am or was JIB graded and did my 236/1 and 236/2 many years ago and my apprenticeship was served at EIL before I moved to Matthew Hall before I went in to cabling and computers.

What I would like to know is what I need to do to get my skills up to current regulations so that I am legit.

I believe its 17th Reg, Part P and Testing Cert but any advice would be helpful.

Thanks

Sdm

I was mainly industrial, 3 phase, risers switch gear, pyro, trunking, tray work and conduit bashing in the past but have a few mates who are builders and want to get in to property renovation myself (sick and tired of the daily grind of working for corporates) so want to develop, oversea, install and sign off work legally, maybe also doing checks for landlords as I have a few contacts.

Oh and thanks for the welcome Essex1

As you have said

17th edition (C&G 2382 unless it has changed recently)

Inspection & Testing (was the 2391) C&G 2395, this isnt a requiremet but puts you ahead of the 5ww wannabe's

And if you want to do domestic works pay the scam fee & join any one of many scheme operators & continue paying every year.

Sorry forgot

Hello & welcome

Cheers M107, btw what are the 5ww's?

Is it the same as the guys I used to have to sit with that where trying to do a full apprenticeship in a year?

I am too old to do industrial so domestic sign offs would be fine, sick and tired of ripping up floorboards and getting cables behind a 6" skirting board, bad enough doing it home for myself for free, don't fancy a moaning customer.......

Ahhh I understand, must be frustrating especially when you've done a full time apprenticeship.
