Good question , SlipSlop . I guess on the face of it that such fittings shouldn't have high leakage currents, I've never heard of any problems. What situation is this , domestic , industrial ??

The only problem I know with HF fluoro fittings is is not recommended to connect them on the same circuit as switch start fluoro's.

If there is a filter circuit on the ballast RCD will trip
Exactly what is this ? Most of the fittings i am looking at are twin 5ft and have just one electronic ballast per 2 tubes and nothing else in the fitting.

I am referring to a commercial situation, but cant see what difference this makes (except wondering why anyone would want a large amount of fluorescents in their house

Filter circuit will be incorporated within the ballast not seperate

I was thinking of a large garage , as most questions on here are for domestic jobs, but , as you point out, it makes no difference, I don't know why I said that .

Something else I noticed with HF Fluoros , in the twin fittings I fitted , Fitgerald & Crompton , both tubes have to be "good" for it to work.

How's this for a conundrum.

Hypothetical situation.

Situation 1.

Switch start flouro on its own circuit 5m from CU via switch.

HF flouro on its own cct 3m from CU via switch.

Situation 2.

Switch start flouro 10m from CU via switch, HF flouro 10m further on down came cct via same switch.

Sit 1 is allowed by manuf' even though there is only 8m between, sit 2 is not even though there is 10m between.

There is nothing in either cct to prevent any "backfeeding" is there.

Discuss?...

i agree. it does seem odd

ive came accross plenty lights with HF & switch start on the same circuit (/ switch) and not any problems

I have just fitted a batch and there was nothing at all in the instructions regarding other lighting or circuits.

How do you know if the filter is incorporated. I would have thought they all had this, but then again this will cause RCD problems ?
