Fitted a loft stair this week which prompted a clear out of some of the stuff up there. Why did we keep two busted elect. typewriters and one mechanical one ?? Chucked some stuff out then spent two hours looking through the rest !! Memories, some happy, some sad. Some Enid Blyton Famous Five books ( only Steptoe is old enough to remember them) . Photos , some happy memories, some sad. A metal cased pistol drill which I know trips the RCD when used, why did I keep it !!!

Three portable radios, 2 broke, one stuck on Radio 4 . A diary my Mom kept when she was very ill ,made me cry. Yeah, Yeah, we are all roughfty tufty construction workers .. still .. Oh and my Dad's WW11 medals, gave them a polish.

A working music centre that no one would thank you for now , a load of vinyl records 45s and LPs. For younger readers an LP is a long playing record the size of a steering wheel. All sorts from classical, Sinatra, Ella , jazz, Elvis, american folk, Beatles & Johnny Cash and thats just the modern ones !!

Blimey I'm waffling on a bit here, :|

i remember getting sent to bed a 7 oclock,,,,,,,,yeah right

pull the curtain back for a bit of light,,, get on with reading the famous 5

used to loan them from the mobile library

Saturday used to take forever to come !!!

Ah yes , borrowed mine from the stationary library and some were received as Christmas prezzies. I think Enid Blyton published at least two per year. OoooH just remembered , I was a member of the Famous Five Club, had a badge !

William books were great, nice line in humour and the older ones gave you wonderful sense of the age they were written in . Oh its all coming back now, The Outlaws were William, Ginger, Henry ,Douglas & Jumble the dog. His arch enemy was Hubert Lane & the girl in love with him was Violet Elizabeth Bott who would " scream and scream until sick" to get her own way.

Thought you may have read Black Beauty ,Patch . We read it at junior school , I remember that the cruelty worried me a lot at the time. :(
I did - Anna Sewell if memory serves. I was a fan of the James Herriot books too :)

Not really - was just something I grew into!

Never had a defining moment when I wante to be a vet. Wanted to do it since secondary school.
