went to a faulty light switch earlier got it sorted and as im turning the screws (north to south!) i hear a click click. turns out to be the hob ignition clicking away. after 10 mins dismantling the kitchen finally found where it was plugged in.

anyway i couldnt get it to stop without cutting the power, has anyone had this before? its the type you push the buton down while turning the gas on not the seperate button. i tried making sure nothing was stuck down but didnt want to dismantle before i asked on here. im going back in a few days so will look into it further. im guessing somethings stuck underneath - any ideas.

I have had it happen also. One of the switches that activates the ignition by pushing it down was stuck. I just had to pull the switch up.

May be build up of oil, fats that sort of stuff, not freeing up the switch

tried that nothing seems to be stuck, pretty clean kitchen not greasy like some places ive been too. will have a proper look inside next time.

I have had this a few times, once it was after being washed, other times for no apparent reason. I did not attempt a repair & i know one house they bought a new hob as it was cheaper than calling out the repair team & one of the others they never turned it back on but used a battery igniter
