Hi all :)
I teach Electricity in France.
With my english teacher, we want to create an activity for our student.

The goal for students is to describe an electrical object to other.
The other student has to find the object.

I have some difficulty to find the best name for each object.
Can you tell me if we need to change their name ?

Thank you for your help

Best regard
Christophe

Hi,
thank your for your help, i will change it.

I have a real problem with numbers : 10, 11, 15, 16 (a real problem with it), 17, 20, 21 and 23.
Maybe they are ok but i need a confirmation.

Thank you
Christophe

they look ok to me, there are different words you could use, but saying that you could then change them back if you asked someone else

10 cable shears/croppers
11 wire strippers
15 ok
16 arc flash face shield, and helmet
17 ferrule crimper
20 din rail single pole relay/contactor
21variable input /variable output transformer
23 ok
see what I mean
I thought 10,11 was ok they are what they say they are, but they also do crop and strip
16 Helmet with shield, don't know if they are arc or not
17 crimper or ferrule crimper
20 again contactor DIN rail mounted if you like, but still a contactor (yes Single Pole)
21 yes, a transformer, but not variable, two fixed outputs that can be joined to make a higher output 2X24 or 1X 48
someone will come along shortly and say different you watch

21variable input /variable output transformer

Can i just write Variable input ? there is no reference to light ?
Thank you all for your help.
If you have another modification you can tell ma !

For 22 : transformer, in France, we call it : transformateur. No nned to say : industrial or control.
IS it same in english ? Just transformer ?

For 17 : Crimping tool is ok or its better "crimper' ?

And 21 was really hard to find ... it is a timer for light.

Well that's me told,then!
I’ve taken lessons from your missus! 😂😂
One thing she did say after seeing some of your posts was he’s an honest decent bloke, I think she was admiring how you recognise that the wife is always saying you’re wrong and she knows best. 😂
I’d didn’t mention RR 😉😉

It is really hard to find the best and usual name for all that objects !

This is the last version !
Are you all OK ?

Hello all !
Thank you so much for your help.

This is the last version. Still some questions ....
Do you know the group : Legrand (image 1, 2, 7, 20, 21 and 23)
23 : should i call it industrial control transformer or just transformer ?
19 : just push button or industrial push button ?
15 : Electrical insulated gloves or electrical gloves ?
07 : you usual call it RCD ?
06 : no idea ... motor or induction motor or something else ...
And finally 3 : Thermal overload relays or just thermal relays (like in France : relais thermique)

thank you for your help !

Christophe

3 thermal overload unit
6 is good as you have it: induction motor
7 is good as you have it: RCD residual current device
15 is good as you have it: electrical insulated gloves
19 is good as you have it: push button
23 mmmmm I would call it a control transformer but other correct answers would be just transformer or even LV transformer.
PS I struggled to recognise to recognise 12 electric meter, don’t know if it is just me but it wasn’t clear to me.

hello, thank you for your answer !
23 is a french device, we have it at the beggin of each home installation.

it measures the energy consumed for invoicing
