As its sort of topical.. I got a picture!:DApplaud SmileyA bunch of cables from the Stable conversion job I am doing, (first fix done, awaiting second fix.)

25 cables back down to CU!

(plus alarm & heating control cables to the left)

This is a bungalow,

An old original stable bit with "lounge/dine/Kitchen".

And a new build part making 'L' shaped property with "Bed1/Bed2/Bed3/Bathroom"

A did a different colour scheme on this one cuz no upstairs/cellar etc.. :(

I have also mixed multiple tape & strap combinations.

All carefully written down in my folder so when I go back I can remember what they all are.:pBlushing

Unless the builders been and peeled all me tape off! :(
or patchy :^O

Nat where they ring mains, I had a job with a 3036 fuse had four cables in it and they where all radials worked out a dear job because I used Rcbo's. When doing first fix I use a sharpie permanent marker or notch cables if there is only a few switch lives in switch. Ring mains I notch them for each circuit in consumer unit.

Batty

no andy its spec's bed where he sleeps overnight to stop the builder pulling all his tape off :^O
If I had of panned the camera down a bit you would have seen my bedside table with coco, table lamp, alarm clock & teddy bear, waiting on it!

on 1st fix I just use nicks, light cuts, tape and/or write depending on number of circuits.

ie, domestic is simply pressure nicks

1 bar 2.5 kitchen ring

2 bar 2.5 gen ring

1 bar 1.5 us lights

2 bar 1.5 ds lights

then vary onto Xs and Vs and IVs and IXs for more and more circuits on a set scheme I was taught serving my time(why the 5week wonders find it hard, no offence to anyone)

on 2nd fix it is now a part of BS7671 to identify each cable, NOT the terminal.

each and every cable in the CU/DB must be indelibly marked.

I simply use a slide on numbering system on each corresponding line/neutral and earth, marking the ring legs as A&B.

I don't mark ANYTHING, I like life on the edge!
Said the man in brown pants and trousers!!! :O:O

No disrespect Riggy... it was just the thought that crossed by mind with few Guiness DrinkGuiness DrinkGuiness DrinkGuiness DrinkGuiness DrinkGuiness Drink

down me neck!BlushingBlushing

I just work out the sequence to which the circuits go in the consumber unit, write them down and number each one, then just mark each cable then tape over the mark and remark on the tape, then its as easy as pi to wire up.AndyGuiness Drink
