Just a quickie.....

Is there such a thing as a 3/4 to 20mm conduit coupler???

Its just that a job I'm on has had some imperial metal switches replaced with a PVC box and PVC female adaptor (just pushed over) using the conduit as CPC

I have heard it al now :slap
it works,

if its good enough for a bike at the TT its good enough for a poxy conduit,  :)

saying that,

Ive just re-read and seen the PVC bit,   :Blushing

so now Im confused,

if the switch has been changed to PVC, and a PVC back box, what is the issue with keeping continuity into the back box?

I've only ever seem m/f adaptors also.

I carry a few of each on the van, used one on a motor a coulple of days ago.

Could you manage with a female 3/4" to 20mm male & 2 lock rings?

The old imperial 3/4" stuff............I assume it's what they term "to BS31"? What is the actual thread size of this this out of interest? Like M20 is "M20 x 1.5" .

The thread on BS31 conduit is not NPT, it is a BSW thread form, and is yes 3/4" OD, and has 16tpi.

A 3/4" NPT (to ANSI/ASME B1.20.1) thread is just over 1" diameter, & has 14TPI, it's an inch & 50 thou actually OD.

A tapping drill for 3/4" NPT is 59/64" approx 23.416mm, so waaaayy over the 19.05mm OD of a 3/4" BS31 conduit.

Noz, if you are desperate I can get some made for you, but I'd look at a 3/4" F x 20mm M & 2 lock rings!!!

I have some I can post up if you struggle to get them, they are galv. & also have the other way.

Just looked at the link above, I have these in stock also if you need them, but not sure if I have them in 20 / 3/4"

You could try looking for a Clipsal 1242AC20, which is what you actually want!

Trouble is Clipsal is now Schneider, and, AFAIK, this is a Clipsal Australia product, found an Au website listing it, and it is on the Clipsal.com site, not sure if you would get it from Schneider UK!
