Well, yesterday, I had an IP from India try to log into my diskstation.

It's now blocked, along with every other possible country pool of IP's I can think of that I would not need to log in from.

I thought I had already done that, but it may have been wiped when I went from DSM4 to DSM5.

So, my question is, revenge?

Should I?

How?

Flag as spammer etc.?

If so how do I do it?

Thoughts

Also found Security Advisor in DSM5, sweet, if you haven't run it you should.

Also now running the virus scanner at all times.

Have also changed a few security settings on the Draytek to improve things too.

Perhaps the little scroat did me a favour...

Just allow only from UK and deny from all in the firewall

You can't flag IPs as spammers
I "thought" I had blocked all, but, maybe this was lost on th update from DMS4 to DSM5.

Shame we can't flag an ip as a spammer.

my son tells me if you post an IP address on certain sites then the anti-hacking community will bombard that IP address with sh!te ]:)
I would like to know more?...

I'm still running DSM 4...

Did you upgrade to DSM5 to correct an issue ? I'm running shy of upgrading because I still remember the grief in moving upto DSM4..... should I bother?

No problems with the update, and none with the incrementals since.

The only thing might have been I lost some of my ip block settings, but I might not have done them correctly anyway!

If hypothetically speaking I was going to attempt to root shell your NAS I wouldn't be using my PC to do it and my true IP address wouldn't be visible. If it was someone doing something underhanded and they have even an ounce of sense they will be taking steps to obfuscate their IPaddy.
