IP2X and IPXX are the same to some degree as X is anything, but I'm assuming you were meaning more the 'B' suffix.

The B suffix is a more descriptive rating, referring to an actual object rather than a defined object of a particular size.

From memory, I thought IPxxB was equivalent to IP4x ?Or am going doolally in my old age??
So did I but ive come across a question in some level 3 papers that I have which asks the difference and I thought they were the same.

It is, ish, I think. IPXXB is protected against fingers I think (or is it hands), which obviously has a IPXX equivalent. I can;t quite see what the suffixes are for as the numbers already define what objects can and can;t be inserted into orifices so the letter just replaces a number. Can;t say as I've seen it used that often.

They're described in the OSG, I think it is?

Think that is about the only place that I have seen them described.

Or was it the 17th Ed Unison Electrician's guide to good electrical practice - Hmm, could have been that?

Amicus (Unite) Electrician's Guide does indeed contain the IP codes.
