Is My Tester Faulty Or Me

I'm the same test at socket.

Also I recall that some time ago you were advised to test RCD at various points within the installation.

From my point Im testing the RCD , NOT the wiring,

The same reason I do my continuity checks one circuit at a time, eliminates parrallel paths,

Test the RCD, there are other tests to verify the wiring.

Can anyone suggest why testing the RCD at a point in an installed circuit would give readings that would differ from those at the outlet of the RCD?

Excluding those who have been through this before with me!

Any time you have to disconnect a circuit and reconnect after testing could arise to a problem, so pluging into a sockets etc is best for me as well that way the wiring is not disturbed is it ?

what would you need to disconnect to test an RCD at source?

and anyone that has problems reconnecting circuits after testing, well, they are probably in the wrong trade.
