Client has had somebody put some shelves up for her and she has noticed her wall lights no longer work!

As you've guessed by now cable has been drilled through.

Wall lights fed from SFCU off RFC.

I intend to repair/crimp/heatshrink/replaster/redecorate

Cable was not previously protected by RCD. Do I have to provide RCD as part of this repair?

Just for the record I will also add that even if this repair had been in a kitchen, it wouldn't need Part P compliance either, as it is a like for like replacement or repair, so notification is not needed.

Maybe an idea to RCD protect in case handy andy comes back though.
I take your point but this cable is run in defined zone and no more vunerable to Handy Andy than any other in the premises.

Short of RCDing everything there's little you can do really.

If I feel its necessary I staple a copy of the 'safe' zones to the cert and leave one in the fuseboard area, tell the customer its cheaper to show anyone working there a copy than to have me called out to repair a drilled cable.
