I wired up a kitchen refurb a while back and as the dishwasher etc were going to be built in I installed 20amp dp switch and low level FCU as I know that there isnt enough depth for a socket and plugtop behind these things.I have just had an irate lady on the phone as the kitchen fitter said he is not part P registerd so cannot connect into the wiring accessory.
is this correct?
the clue is in the words... "the wiring accessory"
this is NOT part of the fixed wiring.
e.g. during a periodic inspection of the FIXED wiring,
OR...
During your Inspection & Test of a new installation or alteration to an installation, you ensure ALL accessory's are removed / disconnected to prove ONLY the fixed wiring.
OR...
you would not fail an installations fixed wiring as unsatisfactory because the washing machine has a dodgy flex.
Central Heating boilers & controls do incorporate wiring fixed into the building structure for thermostats valves etc..
& they are a sort of foot in both camps item...
But bog standard kitchen 'white goods' are Accessories not fixed.
or looking at it another way..
The stuff you could take with you if you moved house!
The bloke has got his pants on backwards...
If it was a plug that he could plug in, then he legally could also connect up the FCU!
