I have been installing several different types of LED lighting for many years . Some of the light fittings have been in permanent service for 5 years without the need to change the lamp . Wondered if anyone has seen LED failure due to lamp life rather than driver faults as we are still waiting ?

Most of my LED experience is with retrofit all in one lamps as opposed to the solid state stuff. The failures I have come accross are usually from the cheap and nasty end of the market that you see B&Q flogging. The high end commercial grade Cree LED and fluorescent LED replacements I deal with are very reliable. The company I deal with directly don't normally supply to individuals as they are mostly a distributor to to the likes of Senate. They design and test in house so the products are pretty reliable. A few companies on the net import cheaply from China and hike up the price without testing products first.
