My last job of the day today was to attend to an RCD which tripped every time the lighting circuit was energised.
After splitting the circuit a couple of times I homed in on a large light fitting in the upstairs bedroom. When I started to undo the bottom locking nut water started to pour out of the fitting so I grabbed a bucket, dropped the fitting and poured approximately 1 pint of water into the bucket !.
Thinking there was a roof leak the homeowner jumped into the loft but came back down puzzled saying the loft insulation and plasterboard above the light was bone dry !. I also went up there to have a look and sure enough no sign of water whatsoever !. I double checked it was the right light.
I cannot think of a logical explanation for this ! does anybody have any ideas about how all that water could have got there ?.
Thanks in advance for any input
