Just found an old lock release in the shed. Vaguely remember it was a left over from a odd job in Coventry about 20 years ago where the ex boss wanted an intercom fitted but NOT the door release that came with it. So it went into the "you never know" box!

Anyway, a mate might have a use for it. Coil measures circa 10 ohms. Any ideas on likely voltage? I'm guessing 2 or 24VDC.....

Thanks

Cheers for that. Just tried it on a 12V Makita battery and it seems to work fine. Mate want it for something on his front swing gates seemingly. The ones BEHIND the sliding set I helped him with: He's coming down this afternoon so it'll be lock/battery/wires/beer and paper & pen............and beer out in the sun!

The gates on the car port ?  Cant see how you can get decent security with that lock/release set up & why does he want electric release on them anyhow.

Last few gates i have done i used this lock  http://www.easygates.co.uk/cart/Details.asp?ProductID=602&gclid=CJLo37mF_7YCFfQZtAodh0MA0g
Yep, the gates on the car port. No ideas why, he just likes playing I thinkI Easygates.......that where he got the sliding gate kit as I'd used them before. Cheers.

We had a play with it on a battery and he's gone away happy. He's a chippy btw though he'll say "cabinet maker"!
