Ive been to a customer today whom wants meter consumer unit and main fuse moved to other side of wall there enough tails to move and i kknow these will be permanently live incoming side of fuse but i believe under no circumstances this is allowed how much would electricity board charge to move this or have anybody ever done it themselves also can i then crimp all household cables to extend for when c/u is moved? is this acceptable as none of them will reach

any help much appreciated.

Dno will have to move the meter mate and prob will charge the earth. Crimping the cables to extend is ok but stagger the crimps.

Don't cut all the cables in the same place or else when you crimp you'll have loads of crimps next to eachother and will take up a lot of space. If you cut the cables staggering the cuts then the crimps will no all be at same level. I'm rubbish at explaining mate but hope you get what I'm saying. Cheers

You could house all the connections within an adaptable box. Use cable glands to do a neat job.

Another way of extending the cables would be to use din rail mounted connectors. The box would have to be accessible if you where going to do it this way.

Any sort of enclosure will do to conceal the crimps. Tapping them up is good practice.
