Hi, I was talking to the main cable designer for Prysmian (my main employer), who tells me that meter tails are insulated and sheathed not double insulated.
The term "double insulated" was a nickname for them simply because they went through the insulating machine twice as they were too small for the oversheathing lines to apply the final sheath. He went on to say that the outer sheath is a protection layer for the insulate and its inegrity cannot be verified and thats one reason why they dont carry the double box symbol..
what are your thoughts on this, do you agree??
