Didn't know where to put this so Here is as good a place as any;) ;)

Why do mice like to eat PVC cable??

Job I went to the other day.. RCD tripping when garage circuit energised, it wasn't long before I found that the outside (underground T&E in duct) was damaged.. when I pulled through a new section of SWA in removed the old you could see that a mouse had gone about 5m down the duct and then had a feast on the PVC. It'd almost stripped bare a 1/2 meter section of the L conductor!!

Like I say, I replaced the external section with SWA (get through that!!)

I have no idea! Although not always eating what they chew - they break things up for bedding etc. I don't think they ingest it. Nice modern plastic nest?!

We had mice in the last house we lived in and they chewed up the Christmas decorations and made them into nests! *******s!

I can offer some good advice on rodent control? (you will beat them with SWA!)

I have seen many damaged cables in my area, some mice and some squirrals.

I assume there is an attraction in the plastisizor used in production to keep the plastic supple and not brittle, and the fact that they can sense the warmth, to surrounding areas.Realising that once stripped, they decide not to nest in the stuff, and laugh at us for putting in cables that offer no warmth once taken from the cable.

In my area we have problems with gliss gliss now they really do like eating cables and they are protected so are a nightmare to get rid of.

That looks more like a Possum to me. Mice like T&E because they are attracted to currants........
Possum... reminds me of australia a few years back. there was a dead one handing by its tail from an overhead line. must have got a shock. not sure how its tail managed to hold the line, but it did!
