when filling in a minor works cert. is the overcurrent protection device always the protection device at the origin in the consumer unit or db. for example if you broke into a ring with a f.c.u with a 5a 1362 fuse does this now become your protection device?

cheers

Good question, if I am adding other things onto the circuit I will put the MCB at origin. But if its just the spur with a circuit (so to speak) coming off it then I will put the 1362.

Thats just me, I don't know the right or wrong answer.

cheers sellers just filling one in this morning and i always put protective device in the ccu or db. just thought is this correct? as my circuit is fused down.

it will be whatever is protecting your addition. so if you have installed a fused spur, then the breaker/fuse in the board is protecting that. if you added to an existing spur, then the fuse in the spur

So if you installed some outside lights spurred off ring final. The lighs are protected by the 3a bs1362 but the fcu is protected by the 60898 32a. What would you put on the cert as you've added o/s lights but the cert may look like they're protected by 32a protective device? Must admit I have put 3a on cert so have I done wrong ? Cheers

Not the 3A spur unit , Andy ? I'm thinking if Matty added to an existing ring he is only certing his outside lights. 32A MCB is exiting .

Just had a look at my ELECSA MW book, it asks for ...." Overcurrent protective device for the modified circuit " ... so yep..you're right , it would be the 32A MCB

Sorry. :C
