Tells us that  the Electrotechnical  Assessment  Specification  comes into effect on 1 Sept 2020 .

It sets out the minimum requirements for an enterprise to recognised by a registration body  (  ie; NIC / ELECSA/NAPIT)

So yet another committee  has sat and deliberated about  something that has been in place since the start of Part Pee  .

It ends with a nice example of that particular  Technospeak   that I find difficult to understand, it states  :-

"  We fully support the new measures and will ensure that new applicants will be required to meet the new requirements , as well as working on a programme  to support and enhance  the assessment of current registrants against a framework of  technical excellence and competence. "

I'm beginning to wonder whether there are more committees than actual electricians in our trade these days .  See my next post .

How come you’ve been in the trade for soooo many years and have not yet been committed to a committee?

why does the word committee have so many double letters?

Is there any indication of the hoops that are going to be required to be jumped through?
Couldn't be bothered to look  Bolty  ,  they're coming at us thick & fast now .

Probably the last person they'd want is an actual electrician  Sharpy .

I've trotted this one out many times on here so another won't hurt ......   when I was  supervising /.estimating  I was driving the assessor to a site visit ,  making conversation I asked where he was  next day .....  a cable manufacturer's conference .... I said half joking , get them to drop the solid strand 2.5  , its rubbish .

Answer was ....  "You don't think they'd be interested in your opinion do you "     That put me back in my box TBH.         The rest of the visit went in almost stony  silence TBH.

We had another assessor when I worked in Yam-Yam Land  ...walking round the job he spots  some 4x4 trunking in meter cupboard , horizontal , low level with some 2x2 flanged onto it ,  a  38mm hole was drilled in the 4x4   by our guy and I could see  a grommet  strip  cut to size by it .

He enters this as a non compliance  ,  I said theres the strip , look you can see it .   "Yes I can but its NOT in the hole is it ??? "
