ive just bought a fluke t5 1000 tester, when i use the amp setting nothing much seems to register, ive plugged in and turned on equipment rated at around 200w and checked the flex for amps, with readings of 0.1 or 0.0 amps, just put it on the amoured coming in supplying the four flats, one of which i live in and get only 1.1 amps.

Am I doing it wrong or have I bought another duff tester,im not having much luckheadbang

To check amps, you put it on the line or neutral, not both together if you do you don't get a reading.

thank you, knew it was probably me haha, there is a youtube vid from fluke showing them putting the meter on a bit of flex, and with the meter set on volts!

so the reading i got on the amoured downstairs from my flat is just a wonky reading,i'll try it tommorow on live conducter in the fuse board, thanks again
