Just been reading the other post thread on part L, whats the requirments etc for domestic??

What lighting etc should be installed if you do a full re-wire?

1 in 4 should be energy efficient. pretty much anything except a BC or ES holder

but i was told that i can get around that if i have it in writing from the customer that they only want BC/ES fittings only, or at less than 25%

So pendants are acceptable still, what else do you put in there place???

what happens if the customer wants downlights in every room which i come across all the time??? Led gu 10s??

never fitted any so dont know the price. ask your wholesaler how much they can get them for you, and the lamps to go with them

Part L has been in effect for a few years

I just install what the customer wants, its their house, if you say they can't have downlights they'll get someone else. On a new build or specified work I do what the designer has spec'd.

So does 12 volt lighting constitute the energy saving variety. I thought gu10's were low voltage.

There is a low energy watt equiv to 40 watt r50 spot in tlc catalouge page 94-but they are es so not sure if helps.

Also a higher power r80 thats 15 watt-75 watt

I know its a good idea to be green-but for gawds sake make em so people wanna use them.

I need to read up on part L big time

maybe if councils stopped installing more streetlights with higher powered lamps, and maybe added photocells to other lighting that on 24/7, we wouldnt need to change lamps in houses to save energy being used...

Agreed, we cant tell the customer what they can have.

Me to, never realy even looked into it

same here. only know what ive been told, never read it myself or anything
Have you seen the flourecnt downlights:^O:^O:^O:^O

they are terrible, no1 would ever want them fitted

i have fitted them on a job once. they did light the room fairly well, but then there was about 3x as many as would have been needed if 50W GU10's were used

Do you mean the gu10 with megaman lamps. I fit these rather than the others now. If you tell customer how much the 50 watt varietys cost to run the think twice and have the 11 watt megamans.
