Hello everyone, been looking round the forum for a while now, thought its about time I spoke up.

Quick intro then if anyones interested, I'm been plastering for the last 10 years, I wanted to be a electrician at school but fell into plastering. Anyway due to the recent fall in work I thought it was a good time to retrain and become one of you.

I'm coming to the end of my level 2 C&G 2330 and loving it, I've found some of the posts on the forum very helpful for my studies, you'll now have one more learner picking your brains if thats ok.

PS In return if anyone has a plastering question I'll be happy to try and help.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Plastering question :- why do my chases never look good when I have plastered them with artex?

well its supposed to be multi finish but looks like artex!!

Welcome aboard Tim

Welcome Aboard Tim. Good to have you here.

I too, am comiing to the end of of 2330.

Regards,

Admin.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

The best way to skim a chasing, ideally use diluted PVA (at the least wet the chasing down) not forgetting to brush off the dust. This will give you a sound background to apply your backing plaster 'Hardwall' or 'Bonding Coat', apply this into the chase making sure it sits 2mm to 4mm back from the surface of the wall. Once the backing plaster has 'gone off' time to apply the final coat using 'Multi Finish'. Use a 4" paint brush wet the brush and brush the edges of the skim coat as its starts to 'go off' this well help blend into to wall.

Follow these tips and you'll never know there was a chase in the wall.

Happy skimming.
