Hi all, not been on here for quite some time now hope everyone is well.
Hoping you can clear a few things up for me as i seem to have gone blank, Situation is im doing 3 houses for a landlord at a fixed price (very cheap as work is still up and down) for all three as the council has demanded he has any work done to get a passed certificate, the first one turned out to be a full-re-wire and im currently onto the second one which i really do not want to have to re-wire other wise material costs are going to ruin the little profit margin i have, anyway the dreaded no cpc to the lighting circuit is here again.
There is only one circuit doing the whole house, downstairs at the switches and lighting points there are cps but cut off so i have re-connected all them and get a good R1+R2 reading, however when i get to the upstairs things have changed into insulated singles with no cpc present but although i have not looked yet (due to rats in the loft ) i think the feed to upstairs is going to have a cpc therefore i do have a cpc in the loft.
My question is as the singles do not incorporate a cpc in the actual cable can these still be left in and used? The switch points all have strappers from another switch into them wired in 1.5 T+E so i can get an earth to each back box and lighting point.
Also if the feed to upstairs does not have a cpc i am considering running a separate one from one of the downstairs lighting points to all upstairs lighting points is this ok to do?
Sorry its a long post i just dont want to have to re-wire the lighting if i can help it.
