Oh, and before anyone brands me a bigot,

As some surely think I am,

Anyone that really knows me will also know that one if the people I admire most from history was

Michael Collins

A man of conviction, that was willing to give up everything for what he believed in,

It was just unfortunate for him that his fellow countrymen hadn't got the same convictions or belief, or loyalty to their cause that he had.

Watched a short episode of Coast about Dublin and it was said that the Irish had not ruled Ireland for nearly a 1000 years as it was first invaded by the Vikings then the Normans and finally the English until they got their independence in 1922

but the other invaders kind of integrated, where as we ruled over them. What history tends to forget is how much the Irish kept interfering in English / Scottish and Welsh affairs.

Incidentally Steps I tend to think of everyone from over the Irish Sea as Irish, and I think a lot of UK residents do so also.

Michael Collins murder is typical of revolutionary politics, there's always lots of factions who don't get on. Does seem rather extreme to have murdered him for signing a deal...

Just for the record I too am from that troubled land but I think from the other of the fence as steps

and as has been said before lost many good friends and family,

I have a lot of respect for Steps , this is not the place for this type of talk ,

we could go on all night with dates and facts from both sides but it will not change my view and I don't think Steps will change his

so with this in mind can we stop now? and close this thread
