Call out to a job an hour away on one of Canoeboys favourite pieces of kit...

A Siemens Micromaster inverter I believe, not even sure yet, nor sure what is wrong with it, something about overcurrent error!

Later peeps, MUCH later!!!  :(   headbang

Grrrrrrrr

Hates the things........

( do you want to borrow my serial port adapter? )   ( Joking - I know you have your own)

Overcurrent, hey? The thingamybob has stuck around the edge of the oojamawhafuk. Bet your wig on it :slap

Just got in now, food, bed & back to site by 06:00

Motor tests OK,

Plus 2 motors tried, same fault on both.

Both motors tried disconnected from the mechanics, so believe a drive fault.

Back to the workshop, got a guy to bench test, some suspect bits, so he rebuilt the drive while I chased for a replacement.

No joy on the replacement, not even RS, even though the website was showing one, they said it was out of stock, plus they had systems issues so they were faxing stuff around for the urgent despatches!!!

Brammer were showing one in their NDC, but they could not find it...

We were ready to taxi it down.

Anyway, no pressure, it has to run by 07:00 & we don't know if we found & fixed the fault or not!

It runs off load on a test motor, but, we won't know if it's right till I get back to site.

Will know later, wish me luck.

Plus, the serial comms would not work to get the parameter set, it worked fine on the workshop test rig, 440, but a smaller rating.

Well got back there @ 06:00 fitted the drive, all running by 06:30, waited there till 07:30, still running, back home in bed by 08:30 for an hour or so, up now & making a fry up with the Mrs for brekkie!

No contact from end user, so must still be running.

Time to sort the invoice out!

:slap :pmsl: :put the kettle on

so, what was wrong?

NFF.

We stripped, cleaned & re-capped it and it ran, though it does have a comms issue, but that could be a parameter setting, no time to check.

It's on a recycling picking line, (KME, think glass & can as SCW), they run the thing with the panel door open!

No trommel though.

I can't take any pictures as it is too dark and I would be too close to the panel to use flash.

There is about 3' between the wall & the front of the panel, it is underneath the line, surrounded by waste bales (You've seen them KME), it is pitch black, well, not quite down the mines black, but way too dark to be safe to work on the panel live.

There is a LOT of metal dust in the air amongst all the other crud, and the boards were coated in a film of it, it was re-capped just in case, because we could and electrolytics dry out too easily really.

We suspect that it was either a cap or contamination, we did not really have time last night to test every component even those removed, the gates traced out OK on the tracker (Huntron 2000).

it just needed switched off then back on
Tried that  :C
