Not necessarily. See Page 8 and 9 of Approved Doc P for clarification.I think it is as you're supplying wiring/power to the outside of a property ...
Perhaps Matt will confirm, but has not indicated so.I think it is as you're supplying wiring/power to the outside of a property ...
I agree with the above comments, and add two additional points..A heat detector is not notifiable work unless it is in a Special Location. If the IP rated JB does not supply equipment beyond the equipotential zone and is not supplied from a special location, I would say not.
The Godfather
1: if you installed it from an exisiting circuit, i.e lighting, then its not notifiable since its not a new circuit, just an extension to existing. same as if you connected to a 'spare' MCB...I agree with the above comments, and add two additional points..1. The smoke detector installation could become notifiable if a dedicated circuit was run in for it from the consumer unit.
2.If a j.b is being installed on the outside wall then what is its intended purpose...on its own it may not be notifiable, but it may become so depending on what it ends up supplying..
:coatthe IP rated JB will follow on to be used for garden deck lighting which i know is notifiable
so you could potentially put a new circuit in if there was an mcb already there and it wouldn't be notifiable?1: if you installed it from an exisiting circuit, i.e lighting, then its not notifiable since its not a new circuit, just an extension to existing. same as if you connected to a 'spare' MCB...
Yes Andy Agreed on the first part of your post...in my post I was generalising on when installing a smoke / Heat detector how it could become notifiable......in this situation it could indeed be connected to a spare mcb and therefore be notifiable as being a new circuit1: if you installed it from an exisiting circuit, i.e lighting, then its not notifiable since its not a new circuit, just an extension to existing. same as if you connected to a 'spare' MCB...
if the circuit is already there, then it may not be notifiable. depends how the circuit got there O)so you could potentially put a new circuit in if there was an mcb already there and it wouldn't be notifiable?
If your registered with the competent person scheme.....For the sake of
id rather the
If there is any doubt about the electrical work you are doing, that ventures in and around special locations or ventures outside (and not all electricians works is in these areas), then perhaps
and as we all know, if you dont notify it, your only gonna get caught if its dangerous.... and still end up with no punishment for not notifying it!Personally gentleman, I don't care if you are registered or not...Do the job according to BS7671 (or exceed or meet), test accordingly, issue cert.
The job should be safe..
