Hi All

I have to swap a pull cord on a nurse call system i have no experience on them and was wondering if i need to be aware of any problem i may face or precautions i must take to avoid any problems

Many thanks

Matt

Hmm,

Was talking to a nurse today at a patients house, her nick name "BASHER"!

Apparently she drinks all of the male members of staff associated with her department under the table regularly, so I agree BEWARE of the NURSES!

Would i need to power down the system disconnect batteries etc or can i just replace swith as it is dont want to blow any internal fues if they have them

Isolate it all mate to be safe, you have to under EAWR anyway, so if this is in a hospital then you'll have to anyway to comply with the HTM's, so do it first as last, do you really want a real bollocking if you blow something up whilst trying to cut corners?

It is just a disable toilet alarm in an office block but here what your saying will power down first will probably save me a lot of hassle later

OK, so it's not actually a "nurse call system", these are a bit special as they can have UPS systems, battery back ups, would be supplied form the "protected" supplies within the hospital etc.

Even so, yes isolate the whole damn thing, no one is going to need it when you are working on it so just turn it off and stay safe!

As Kerching says , make sure you get the correct replacement , different makes are often different . Pull switches on those systems are usually retractive ( non latching) . Some makes will incorporate a diode or resistor some do'nt so wrong one can throw the system .

A disabled toilet one , there should be a spur for isolation.
