evening all,

doing a Zs today, going aroung sockets, all going well, then one socket gives a reading of >1.80 kohms? what on earth is this?

now the sockets i am usint are utter s***e, although they are 3 year old mk's. the house has been riped apart and all beams shotblasted (inch of sand in the cu).

so the question is, would this be a faulty socket or is something wrong? this is the only socket to give this reading, all othere were fine.

thanks chaps

thanks zeespark, i was hoping, well, am hoping that lol.

i am trying to talk customer into buying new sockets, but she is hard work. the cu is also playing up, spent ages today trying to work out why i had no power to the ring, turned out the mcb is playing up, i flicked it 3 or 4 times and all fine. same happed with the lights, thought i had f****d something up, turned out to be the breaker again.

going to tell her she may need a new cu lol she will love that

if the cu had a inch of sand in it im surprised anything works! how the hell did that happen?

did they not cover the CU when sand blasting? seems a incredible amount of sand to be in there.

hi paul.

its is also possible that the earth connection to the socket (cpc's) are loose or corroded. had a reading once at a socket of >3k ohms.

When i had the front off, i found that previously someone had extended the cables by twisting them together...... X(

You copied the HTML link, not the forum code. ;)

Have you ever been in a house when it's been sandblasted? Not much doesn;t have an inch of sand in it!
