stuck between a firm pair of t***
went to a farm the other day, he said every time there is a thunderstorm or lightning his power trips out.

he has 3ph to barns and a single ph for the house, its only the single ph that trips, its an old cu with 100ma main switch, the 3ph was older with the stand alone rcd units, and tbh they were that old im not even sure they would trip out lol.

any ideas why it would trip with a storm?

Transient voltage on supply more likely from Lightning induction to over head lines

Really? OP says EVERY-TIME there is a thunderstorm.

Still think the water option seems more likely. What is tripping - MCB or RCD? Did you do any tests?
