Hi,

If you went to a property and the existing board was very old and your new work there required you to split the tails into henly and install new board for the new circuits. Obviously the EC to new board will be 16mm from external MET to new board, MPBC will be upgraded to 10mm from MET to new board.

As your not touching the old board, do you have to upgrade the EC to the old board? I don't think so but wanted to check.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Cheers

I think he added to the new board erroniously and he means making sure bonding is all 10mm min.

If I understand your question then the answer is as long as you are not disturbing the existing EC (i.e. putting an externel MET in) then leave it alone (unless its dangerus).

I see, makes sense without that on the end. if you're not running anything to the old board then there's no need to change anything in it. new board and\or new MET, no need to touch old board.

Thanks guys. I'm no good at explaining but noz understood my goobledegook so cheers. I'll leave the Earthing conductor to the old board alone and just get on with my new board and make sure all my stuff complies.

Just thought whilst I was there maybe I should upgrade the earthing conductor to the old board as it'll only take 5 mins. But if you guys would leave alone and do you own thing I'll do the same.

Thanks again

Depends if you are going to get paid for it, and whether you belive doing the work will improve the safety of the installation.

Generally if its an old wylex board or similar you will have a hell of job getting a 16mm earth cable into earth bar they were never designed to take one. I would leave well alone and just note it on your certificate.
