Hi,

I've just bought a property which has a brickwork post at the end of drive with built in lights.

i need to remove the post and terminate(?) the cable feeding these lights. The cable will not be used again and can be embedded in concrete. it doesn't seem practical to remove it.

theres 2 other posts which have lighting which will remain.

how should I "terminate" the cable?

thanks for any help

You need to identify the point where it is connected to the supply a mad disconnect it there so that you don't leave a live cable buried where it is not required.

Once the the supply end of the cable has been disconnected and made safe then you can just chop the cable wherever suits and leave it.

If this post is in the middle of a run, you might find 2 cables, one feeding in and one looping out to the next post.

If that is the case and you want to remove one post but leave the others working, then you need to join the 2 cables with a resin poured joint and bury it in the ground.

If it's the end post that you are removing, then at the last but one post you need to disconnect the cable feeding out to the last post, and cut if short so it can't be re connected.
