overheating switch

Hi Everyone

I have a frieind who has 13a fsu with neon connected to a dishwasher in 2.5mm.

The switch is becoming very warm when the dishwasher is in operation, i presume when heating water as the switch cools down after a little while.

I have changed for a new one and checked terminations are tight and the same problem occurs.

looks to me on quick inpection that it's on a radial circuit and not part of the ring if this helps.

or is the dishwasher had it as a very old melia type.

any help appreciated.

I would imagine 3kw heating element so will get warm but to what degree. Also if its a cheapo fsu then it probably will get warm.

Warm to the touch but not hot. Switch is from nexus.

Does not necessarily have to be the cable connections; could be cr4p switch contacts or a weary connection to the fuse in its carrier.. Fit an MK one and you problems will be reduced to the level of a slugs inside leg measurement................. :coat

Would agree, fit a quality switch. Makes a big difference.

Had a simliar recent one with an electric shower. Turned out the origional switch was a cheap 'Tenby' switch ex-local authority spec :red card

New switch fitted, problem solved.
