Hi,

If you have a PFC above the 6ka that the MCB's can clear i have read somewhere that this is covered by the main fuse. I cant see it really and think the MCB's need to be rated above the PFC.

Would just like some clarification cheers

Thanks in advance

providing there is something in the circuit which can break max PFC, your OK. BS88 & BS1361 fuses usually cover any high PFC, although if its really high you may have to ensure its a BS88-2 (80KA) since some 1361s are only rated 16.5KA

Hi Andy thanks for replying.

Just trying to understand this right. If a fault occured say 15ka fault nearest the breaker wouldnt it blow the breaker up before the BS1361/BS88 acted, if you can understand what I mean.

Thanks again for replying cheers

it may do damage to the MCB (since they are only designed for 6KA), but if you have such a high fault current, the service fuse it going to melt very quickly.

and if your so worried about a 6KA breaker, how often have you came across a PFC over 1KA with a 3036?

If the board is of a newer design, and conforms to EN60439-3 annex ZA, the BOARD is rated as M16, irrespective of the individual mcb`s :)
M16????

Sorry, old chap, I'm not completely au fait yetBlushingBlushing.

Also, with such a high fault current you may have to consider thermal withstand, when choosing your cable?
