Hi all,

I'm new to this forum but have found it really informative and helpful. I was wondering what the going rate is for a PIR. I'm a strong believer of not over pricing customers, but also don't want to under sell our services. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. You will probably find this has to take into account the size of the property and the number of circuits on the installation. As such most electricians use an hourly rate or just a day rate, assuming it will be complete within one day. (Some larger property's with multiple distribution boards can be several days work). Hourly and daily rates tend to vary around the country, there are numerous threads covering this type of question. But the true answer to your question is there is no national going rate for a PIR.

Hi, if you're new to this, beware of managing agents for let properties and landlords, telling you they can get the job done for about 50 quid !

If you want to be sarcastic, congratulate them on finding such a good deal and walk away.

My personal way of doing business with people like these, is to explain to them that if someone is going to do a proper inspection on say a 3 bed property,it's going to take at least half a day, plus the paperwork.

If they just want a piece of paper to say everything's ok (when it's not really been checked properly) thats like getting an mot from a dodgy garage for a vehicle that's a death trap !

Somewhere between
