I grew up with records. They were rubbish. Went to tapes. They were better. Then CDs. They were great. Flirted with mini-discs which were awful. Then the digital world hit us and the quality and range is second to none. This is all before my time, Dansette, radiogram????I'm all about the MP3.
I had a mini disk....didn't think much of MP3 when it came out :shakeheadThis is all before my time, Dansette, radiogram????
I'm all about the MP3.
You may well be correct. I have no idea. The day I look at science to decide how music makes me feel then for me that is the day I stop listening. I get the nostalgia of records but for me it is all about the music. I get though it is a personal thing. As it should be.Well Essex, you really should look up the Nyquist ratio and look into how that relates to the digitisation of audio frequencies that are audible to the "standard" human ear.
Vinyl has a greater dynamic range than CD.
It is just harder to get "good" reproduction of vinyl than it is CD, thus it is more expensive.
This is not quite snake oil territory, but, it is sound science and engineering.
It is however, very subjective, and, there are few, me these days unfortunately who have lost the details of their hearing due to work related hearing damage.
