My sister in law lives in a large welsh farmhouse. About 2 years ago they had a new, large Grant oil fired combination boiler fitted.
Since being fitted the oil pump on the burner has failed at least 3 times. Each time it fails it takes about 2 weeks for Grant to get a replacement and come and fit it.
Last time it failed they gave some story about this was a new modified pump so should now be reliable and they extended the guarantee on the boiler to 5 years parts and labour.
Well it's just failed again, and Grant say they are now not supporting this boiler and are handing it over to a third party company to fix it.
Obviously there is a design problem with the burner on this boiler, which is surprising because as far as I know it's a Riello burner and I thought they were pretty good. My in laws have obviously lost confidence in this boiler ever being reliable.
So my question is this, do you think they stand a chance of getting Grant to take this boiler away and give them a full refund so they can buy a different make of boiler to replace it?
