hi all,i have a megger1552 when i try to do a continuity test the tester beeps and the battery symbol flashes on briefly, and the fuse symbol appears and the tester seems to lock down until i turn the dialaway to some other function then return to the ohms function.

I have belled the fuse,fine

I have changed the batteries

sometimes it decides to work, but mostly it doesnt,am i doing something stupid here or do you think my tester is just knackered(its brand new by the way)

Hi mate,

Just a word of warning. There are a few megger haters on here so just ignore their comments lol.

Is this meter new to you or are you used to using it.

On the cont range there are 2 settings. One just clicks and the other is the correct setting, have you defo selected the correct setting?

Cheers

I had the same problem with my Megger MFT 1553, turned out to be a faulty connection block, where the leads connect into. But mine was 3 years old. If yours is brand new then you can send it back and they will repair for free. It cost me almost

thanks, someone(old boss) bought it for me,and i have no contact with him so dont know where to send it back to?

Could contact Megger at Dover and give them your serial number and they may be able to find something out for you. Just a thought

Yes, if you phone Megger and give them your serial number they will let you know if you have a valid warranty.

No probs matey I'm still waiting for the fluke massive to come on this post and say sell ur Megger lol. Dont normally have to wait this long lol

so its definetly a problem with the tester you think, not just me being a div?

there are two ohm settings one with ohm symbol and one with bell test,im selecting the first

then there are Mohm settings for insulation tests

thank you
