Can you mix and match boards with different mcb etc? Wylex rcbo with mk board or whatever?

Thanks for that TB. So basically some will fit, some won't.

A mix of MCB manufacturers will look ok, some won't.

Some will look ok, some won't.

Later models of mcb etc from the same manufacturer will look ok, some won't.

You pays your money, you takes your chance!!

Not read the instructions as it is an existing Wylex Split Load CU, but I bet you any money that it says to use only Wylex gear! ££££££ to them.

It will, and it may affect your PI and PL insurance, as well as invalidate your customers house insurance.

Well it depends if that was the cause of the problem IMHO.

If you have a flood I don't think the Electrical Police will be looking at your fuseboard, I also doubt a loss adjuster even knows what brands are what and what they do.

if its an exact fit and just stamped with a different name at the Chinese factory, I don't see a problem, but then that's just me.

Tool station are doing wylex rcbo's for 20 odd quid at the moment.......................or you could use the even more cost effective rcbo's supplied by David of SBS, if youare not worried about mix & match on a cu..

Just to add to your list....

SBS Standard RCBO, 10KA short circuit capacity   £10.00 + VAT

I am not saying it is totally compatible with Wylex, but it is compatible with other makes, including MK, Chint, Contactum, B & G, etc, etc.

If you have reservations about mixing & matching, it is best not to do it. However, check out the Forum Sponsor, FASTLEC, who are selling a Wylex 8-way enclosure with 6 x Europa RCBOs!!.   If that is not deliberate mix & match, I don't know what is, but I am sure it would satisfy BSEN60439-3.  The price is £111.38 + VAT.

My equivalent with an MK enclosure and 6 x SBS Standard 10KA RCBOs, including postage, is  £80.10 + VAT.

I will match the quality and provenance of my product, with anything else on the market.
