Just had a call from a bloke this morning. He has installed 2 seperate external sockets...ip 64 rating. He said he had spured one of the ring at the front of the house and one from rear of the house. When he powered up the rcd tripped. He has now narrowed it down to the one at the front. I asked if all connections are in and tight, which he is positive they are. He has tried the external socket on another socket upstairs and all seemed fine and no tripping.

I have only got half hour to see him this afternoon and just wondered what the most frequent cause could be so I could check first thing. Normally it's the connections, moisture or faulty equipment but he is insisting all is fine with these aspects.

Any advice on what to look at first would be great...thanks

Well if the rcd isnt & didnt trip prior to the spur being fitted, it can only be a fault with the installation of the cable he is putting in from the existing socket to the new socket.
