Would like to remove an unnecessary bathroom wall light. Can the wires be capped and a blank face plate put on in its place? Is this a job for a non-electrician?

Thanks

yes and yes. you must use a blank plate to keep the cable in a permitted zone, so dont plaster over them next month unless the cable is made dead

Welcome to the forum

nothing wrong with doing it yourself,,,,,just ensure you have isolated the lighting cct first.

Hello Als02 welcome:)

Bathroom wall light?

do the wires go up into loft space above?

probably easier & safer to disconnected somewhere in the loft.. maybe?

or disconnect at another light fitting or switch where it is looped/powered from?

better than to leave live unused wires down the wall, :(

which is not very good practice. :|

I presume there is another light in the bathroom..

i.e. you are not moving the light position..

just disconnecting an old redundant position..?

moves & alteration would be within the scope of part P building regs.

but as I said if you can access it in the loft space.. all the better:)

hope that helps

SL.
