Evening all. Just bought a new house and the inbuilt neff hotplate hob was knackered. Replacing the whole kitchen in the future so thought i would just replace the rings for now, bought 4 new ones. When i took out the old ones they only had 2 terminals and wires the new ones had 4, connected the 2 wores to screws 2 and 3 of the 4 availble and now it's definetly underpower! Question is can i just link with suitable wire 1 and 4 to and 3 respectively or will this put too much load on the 2 wires? In short i think i'm only powering half of the ring elements, missus is pulling her hair put! Thanks for any advice.

So you are going to have a complete new kitchen soon.  What sort of hob are you planning for that?

If you know what you want, just buy the new hob and use it for now in the old kitchen.

Or just sent the rings back and order the correct ones instead.

I did check the part number and all sites say a direct replacement, but not quite it would seem! No idea as to what type we're going to want in the future may just bite the bullet then and get chrap £100 hob to drop in for now!

If you've got the correct part for the job and it's not got the same connections then you need to get in touch with the company that you bought them from... you might find that they're really helpful

Get your multimeter out and test the new elements to see what is what on them, then connect them up appropriately.

You're lucky that guessing the terminals didn't result in a loud bang and the how being written off or your house being set on fire.
