With all the doom & gloom surrounding the decline of the British high street,
I think the High Streets took a major hit with the opening of Shopping Malls  on the edge of towns  etc     and were then finished off by the big South American river people.

Much the same as the corner shops  .  Photo below is the corner of my road  before the giant ASDA opened 2 miles away ,  12 shops I think ,  now  all gone .

only shops I like to go in are clothing and shoe retailers, about once a year when what I'm wearing falls apart! I find shopping online for these items just doesn't work too well if I want to get something that fits properly.  Screwfix gets used a bit, but that's work related. Ocasionally I get dragged to the big sheds to look at kitchens / bathrooms / furniture. About everythig else gets bought on-line with the exception of plants for garden, and even then I've taken to buying seeds on-line to get the plants I want to grow. Retail Therapy just doesn't interest me much!

I also hear that chain restuarants are suffering, ie the lies of FRankie & Bennies, which are basically slightly posher than McDonalds and about as worth eating in!

Ah  Next to the cemetery    eh !
No idea Deke, but being the largest outlet for fishing equipment I've always fancied taking a trip there......................Mrs107 says its sad enough that I willingly sit on a rain soaked riverbank, more so to want a shopping trip to an angling centre  :Blushing
