how do you stop these coming?

a girl i know entered a phone comp a while back, it cost a fiver, but ever since its taking a fiver a week from her PAYG credit cos it keeps sending these stupid chargeback texts, sending 'STOP' has done nothing, its obviously some sort of scam, but short of changing her number what can she do, ?

provider has said its not their problem cos she is PAYG. :(

I dont know m8..............

but all I can say is ******KING thieving scumbags!!!!

Which provider is the PAYG phone with?

It may just be best to get a new free sim card and start again with a new number....

I think you can get your outstanding credits transfered to another sim card if its with the same provider. :|

she doesnt have any credit on it, every time she has some credit and then the *****s will send a text robbing a fiver, gone from 15-20 quid a month to

if she is not getting joy from her mobile phone provider report them and the company to OFTEL. Tell her to tell the mobile provider she is going to tell all of her friends and family to cancel any contacts with the particular mobile phone company unless they do something and ask them to refund the outrageous charges. Tell them that youare going to report them also to Watchdog and other consumer rights programmes, the mobile operator can cancel it but they won't until pushed.

also she can report them to the police, the threat might work saying the mobile phone company are compliant in a theft or fraud.

I just made a lengthy reply to this and it all disappeared whe I click a button in error.

I will redo it all again later.

When texting 'STOP' back to the number the word 'STOP' must be in capitals or it won't work. try again.

the only other thing I can think of, is that one of the very first messages would have contained the 'stop' number but the messages come from a different number!!

Beyond that she may just have to get another sim.

Thanks everyone. I think I have persuaded her to just get a new sim, that way she has credit,

And DONT enter any more too good to be true competitions!

I tried M107s link and it says im banned from their forum lol. Whats that about. Never even been on there before ffs.
