Went to use my Fluke 1652 the other day but would not zero, so thought I would send it away for calibration anyway, courier picked it up and I googled the fault online to find it was a common thing when the batteries got low they won't zero, got a call from the company who does the calibration to say it was

This is the problem of these calibration companies. I have said this before but here goes again. I sent a Megger cm500 to a company in Cambridge to sort the low current trip on the Megger as it was miles out and this was at the suggestion of Megger themselves. Now they had it for months and I finally got it back with a bill for a couple of hundred pounds. The loop readings were actually worse than when it went away. I am fed up with wasting money on the said meter. I put it down to experience. If I have any problems with meters I will send them to Megger Mark as he has always been honest and I feel you can trust him.

This is why MeggerMark is a sponsor of the forum -

There are a lot of us that use his company, for both new kit, repair, cal. etc.

If he wasn`t reliable (and he`s a nice guy, too), I wouldn`t go there..........

So the moral of the story - use the power of the forum. Its what its here for.

edit: It doesn`t help anyone else, as you haven`t told us who you DID use!!!!!

reminds me to get them at work to pay for my tester to be calibrated, bet they dont wanna pay...

That's good but tbh I wouldn't ever post my tester and trust the postage companies not to kick the box around. Iykwim. Think I'm gonna try get mine calibrated at elex at sandown park :)

try using your battery check next time,

anythime I get a dodgy reading the first thing I do is check the battery voltage,

Flukes have an inbuilt ability to show the battery voltage.
