No, I've worked on line & off line with S5 loads in the past, but, never had to make a back up of a memory module!

I now have to.

I have my field M3 FPG up & running in S5 mode & the S5 SW loaded.

I have my S5 module programming adaptor (6ES7798-0CA00-0XA0) plugged into the Simatic Memory Card module slot.

The module is an EEPROM 6ES5-375-0LA15.

I can find the EPROM handling menu, and it seems to allow me to back up from EPROM, but, having never done this & never entered this menu area before, I don't know what settings to use!

I can F2 to read EPROM, I'm guessing it will read EEPROM the same?

It asks for Blocks, I guess it is A, then it is asking for Ptr, not sure what this is?

Anyone?...

Why did I KNOW it would be you, I why did I also know that whilst you would help, it would be accompanied by a sarcastic comment! ;)

How am I going to persuade my client to upgrade their S5, 610, & 1FT5 to a completely new system on their 20 yr old barfeed, when it is basically working OK, & all they want from me is a backup, in case it all goes T!T5.

The processor is an S5-100, the drive is a 610 & the servo is a 1FT5.

I have a local company that can repair a lot of this stuff, and do for me regularly.

However, back to the card backup.

Which IF I can do we can convert to S7 quite easily and it is a simple machine so, CPU, relay op card, ip card, op card & a fast counter I/F for the ROD encoder, 610 & 1FT, I could retrofit in 48 hrs to a modern system if I had the programme & another spark.

So when I do the bits you suggest I get:

PROG NUMBER ?                                     Selection list with help key

NO matter which key I use it falls over!

Like I said, never been in this area of S5 before...
