Friend of mine is closing an office down and has half a dozen PC's to sell but wants them all PAT tested.

I don't have a plug and pass meter so going to use Megger 1552. Would I be right in saying that' it's safe to IR test the computers on 250V dc with line and neutral linked.

Cheers

whats the difference between putting 250v across it or putting 250v test voltage across it? Not 100% sure is the answer.
Just wanted to double check before blowing his computers skyward:coat

I did a pat test the other day of a load of PCs, being fairly new to it I just put SC1 group in which is basically 230V earthed equipment. Later on I found that there was a particular setting on the PAT for PCs. No complaints so I assume its all working!

short L&N and test to E. but be aware they may have surge supressors in, if so you will get a low reading, and possibly blow something if you test at 500V
