Does anyone know if there is any courses available in the north east area for domestic burglar alarm installation?

Thats what everyone keeps saying to me, but had no experience of them so would just like to get some basic knowledge.

Buy a kit and install it on a board a few times. Best way to learn. Also book on amazon called "Intruder Alarms by Gerard Honey". Loads of info and some.

there are specific regulatiosn regarding security alarms (same as wiring has BS7671). you also need to be SSAIB or NACOSS / other to install them if they are to be monitored. also some insurance companies may ask that the installer is regsitered

as far as basic domestic alarms go, there pretty straight forward. likes of texecom comes with a full manual and easy to install / setup

my PL has an exemption clause for burglar/fire alarms, it puts something like a 300% loading on me if I want covered for them, I think its because Im not registered with any alarm bodies,

such as SSAIB/NACOSS etc as Andy points out.

EDIT, Im covered to fit them, but my insurance wont be liable if they fail, or something like that,

I simply explain to customers and they seem OK,
