I want to reuse my existing security system power supply with my new security system panel. Looking at the labels of both systems, it appears to me that the PRI power is identical while the SEC are different. Based on the info below, can I safely reuse the power supply from my old security system with my new system?

Can someone also explain the SEC and how it would affect my new system? I'm not an electrician just a do-it-yourself kind of guy so any help would be appriciated.

Old System: PRI 120VAC @60Hz 0.30A   SEC 16.5VAC@25VA

New System: PRI 120VAC @60Hz 0.30A  SEC 9VAC@25VA

Thanks!

Thank you ProDave. I'm glad I didn't try it yet. A follow up question.

Can you explain the wires that are connected to the AC plug? So the plug has three screws that attach the wires. The RED is connected to one, both GREEN and YELLOW are connected to the second and BLACK is connected to the last screw.

I'm now thinking of reusing the wires and just swaping the AC plug. You think that would be safe?
